Gosh First chance back on the computer.

Elise is a handfull! But also the most beautiful little kitten i have ever seen! She has been here for over a week now, I got her on thursday the 14th she kept Kris and myself up for the first 3 or 4 nights she was here. . . mioaing at us all night she was a little shaken up and I think she missed her mum and brothers and sister. This is the first chance i have had to sit down at my computer since she has gotten here even though she has a little flanellette pillowcase folded up on my desk so she can sleep there (it seems to be her favourite place to sleep, she gets sun most of the day there) i just have not sat at my computer for more than the time it takes to check my emails since she got here!

I was under the impression that Russian Blues, as a general rule, didnt miaow much?? Elise never stops. . . she is always talking to me and if I dont miaow back at her she looks at me like I have hurt her feelings so I have to do it back. (weird I know) She has such a sweet nature but has a real problem with ANY  loud noises. . . and my daughter lol all Abbie wants to do is pat her but she is just a little on the loud side for Elise to be able to just stand there and let her pat her.

Elise enjoys stalking our dog, who is quite large, about the size and colour of a Large Labrodore, Zara (the dog) is also petrified of the teeney weeny little Kitten. She sits there shaking while the kitten gives her bum wiggle pose! I need to get a picture of it.

I am pretty sure the first show is in Bathurst, so i need to get Elise used to other people touching her, she doesnt like my mother in law patting her or picking her up at all she instantly tries to escape. Im nervous and excited to take her to a show i need some show curtains im not sure if I should have my mother in law make them for me or if I should just buy them. Decisions, decisions! lol anyhow here are a few picks that arent blurry because she is running around like a psyco!

There Will be babies!

I have decided in all my wisdom that i will NOT be having Elise spayed, and i have asked her breeder Debbie to breed me a male that isnt related to her so I will be having little russian blue babies after all!! It does up Elises price from $850 to $1200 but i think it is worth it, the male will be the same price, he wont be born for a long time though Debbie hasn't bought her new stud cat yet, but fingers crossed the first litter he has for her has a beautiful baby boy in it with my name on him.
Seeing as Elise is not being desexed it wont take as long for her to get here, so guess what? she will be ready and hopefully here by THURSDAY the 14th!! thats only 3 days from now, I am so excited, cant wait till she gets here and i hope the plane trip isn't to scary for her.
Looks like im going to have to get mum to build me a website after all, if im going to breed I will need one! I still have to become a member of the NSWCFA which is the New South Wales Cat Fanciers Association, you have to be a memeber to breed, im not sure if you need to be a member to show, I think you do but im not 100%. I really wanted to have a cat climber tree here for her when she gets here but i dont think it will happen, i really really wanted to get her a Funky Cats one but they are so oooo ooo ooo expensive, being hand made to order i understand the price, but understanding the price and being able to afford the price are two different things! lol it is a shame my local pet goods stores dont stock the really tall cat climbers and the ones they do have are small and dodgey! lol

On a side note. . . I think i am going insane, i keep hearing miaoing and purring and just the general sounds of a cat. . . and i have ben since Cables (my old cat) dissapeared. . . the dissaperence of Cables is what decided me on the fact that a cat should always be indoors. I will get Elise used to the cat harness so she can come outside with me when i hang the washing out or play with the kids outside, but other than that she will not be allowed out on her own EVER lol.
chaio for now

difference between the american style russian blue and the australian

Ok for starters, Elise goes in for her keyhole spay operation on the 12th!! only a week or so after that and she can come live with me!!!!

On to the real reason im writing this particular post. . . why are the American Rusian Blues so very different from the Australian ones? Is it due to the outcrossing to the Siamese after the WWII? If so why arent the Australian Russians similarly fine boned? Did we use a different outcross to keep the Russian breed alive after the near extinction of it? if so what was it? Looking at a lot of the Russian Blue videos on Youtube, i see Americans posting that "This can't possibly be a Russian Blue, it is too heavy and look at its head it must be a Brittish short hair, or even more amusing a Chartreux, as far as i can tell we dont even have that particular breed in Australia, especially in such abundance that it is allowed to roam willy nilly and breed randomly, any responsible breeder doesnt even let their cats outside, let alone sell an Entire kitten to an irresponsible "pro-kitteh freedomer" on the contrary most of the breeders i have researched WILL NOT  sell a cat to a household where it might be allowed outside.

I digress, does anyone know what the outcross the Australian Russian Blue breeders used to keep this amazing breed alive? If they do I would love to know. I love the look of both American and Australian Russians, but i would like to know how an Australian bred Blue would fare on the American or even the Japanese (as they too are rather fine boned and small of head) show circut? Or vice versa? I know our breeders do import and export the breed so they must be shown and bred in the differing show circuts.
<<American style,
I think this is a Platina Luna Picture.

First Post EVER

Ok as of today it is about 18 days till i get little Elise home!! she will be being shipped here from Debbie Macaulay in Campbeltown, of Jendayicats cattery. I love thats its called shipping when you are using a plane. . . and cargo on a ship, go figure!
I am stupidly excited about getting her home and starting on the show circut, my fiance is not too happy about the amount of money i have spent on a cat but i let him buy a car so he had to let me buy myslef one!

As you can see from the title, she is a russian blue, pedigreed and with papers, her mother is DB GD CH ANOU NADHA all those letters at the begining mean she is not only a grand champion show cat but she has had at least 5 (?) of her kittens become champions as well. (this is somthing i have read and interpreted from a site explaining the prefixes, i could be wrong) her sire is CH AMESHA BLU RUSSKI the ch meaning he is a Champion in the show ring, as you can see she has an excellent chance at becoming a champion in the show ring her self!
I have been trying to read every peice of information I can find on the internet, i am so excited about going to a show for the first time and want to make sure i have everything i need, the curtains for the cage the cat is to be kept in before and after judging, i cant wait to meet all the other breeders and cat lovers. well thats it for taday, still excited! lol
